National Donut Day actually has its roots in doing good? Donut Day started in 1938 as a fundraiser for The Salvation Army of Chicago with the goal of helping those in need during the Great Depression and to honor The Salvation Army “Lassies” of World War I, who served doughnuts to soldiers.

FLOTSAM! is a troupe of musicians, circus artists, and puppeteers traveling on a handmade raft, giving free performances in riverfront towns along the way. They will be in the second amphitheater from the bridge. Just look for the most unusual ‘boat’ along the river – that’s them! Their show is kid-friendly but meant for ALL ages. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and come early for a good spot!

Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.
TCT last produced Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. in 2009 and 2014, and the new 2024 production will feature a fresh concept with an interesting twist for the “tale as old as time.” The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
