Coffee is my drink of choice, all day, er day, and he knows that.
So when he brings me my coffee in the morning, I know it is just to be kind, since we both enjoy those luscious dark beans and strong coffee.
But there is more.
I started noticing that when he pours my coffee into one of our many mugs, he always picks my favorite color, green, and hands me not only my favorite drink but my favorite color mug. On some days when he knows I’ve had a rough night, he pours a double portion in my Mamacita mug, cause a regular cup won’t do.
The MORE is a bunch of sweet little things he does for me that unless you are looking for them, you wouldn’t notice, so I have been trying to notice the “more.”
I started noticing the way he does the laundry, and how he always comes in and finishes up the load that I have forgotten about.
But there is more.
I started noticing the way he will pick up my favorite wine, yogurt or Bubly, just because.
But there is more.
I started noticing the way that he opens the door for me and he lets me go first, and is always thinking of me and what is best for me.
But there is more.
I started noticing the way that he listens to me, even if he really isn’t interested in my story, he listens.
But there is more.
I started noticing the way he partners with me in parenting our boys and picks up the slack when I am at my wit’s end and takes over.
The most amazing thing that happened was when I noticed the “more.” I wanted to do more for him.
I wanted to jump in and remember to get that laundry finished.
I wanted to do more.
I wanted to show him that I think of him when we are not together.
I wanted to do more.
I wanted to show him that he was important to me and listen to him and watch football with him.
I wanted to do more.
I wanted to deliver his coffee to him in his favorite mug before he woke up and made it for me.
The MORE is small little things you can do to show someone that they are important to you. Just do them; you’ll start a very powerful chain reaction when you do.
So notice and do more, even if it begins with something as small as a green coffee mug.
