“I was born in New York and lived in several states before settling down in my favorite city of all time – Cincinnati! I have a biracial family that consists of my amazing and talented husband (Derek) and our beautiful, silly daughter (Adilyn). I work full time, am in school full time for another degree, write and illustrate children’s books, and volunteer on the facilities team at my church. I’ve also started a race relations campaign, “One In Cincy”. I still do my best to be the best mom and wife I can be! I love art museums, the theatre, reading, and Cincinnati parks. I’m a foodie and always love trying new places to eat. I hope other moms find either enlightenment or humor from my posts!”
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Be at Eden Park and the Cincinnati Art Museum with my family!
If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?
Turquoise – it’s happy but not overwhelmingly bright (just like I have an exuberance for life but also like to have calm and quiet), it’s created by mixing a few different colors together (just like I have different sides to my own personality), it’s a calming, peaceful color (just as I strive to keep peace in my life), and it reminds me of the open ocean (one of my favorite things to see).
What song would you sing at karaoke night?
LeeAnn Womack’s “I Hope You Dance”, because it’s my dad’s favorite song, I’ve sung it before, and I love the message – no matter what, just keep dancing through life!!
Who would you call for bail money?
My husband and my father!
If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
“If she appears cranky, either feed her immediately, or inject her with coffee.”
If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Anchor in OTR.
What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?
Washington Park
What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
That feeling of being purely and innocently loved, and feeling the most incredible love for something I helped create.
What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?
Those times when you’re so exhausted and the kids pull on every last nerve!!! …Until they finally go to sleep, and you look upon their angelic faces and remember again why you love them so much.
