We are happy to announce a new member of the CMB family!

Meet Laura:

“I came to Cincinnati to start my teaching career thirteen years ago, and now that I’m mom to Eli (5), Caleb (3), and Violet (7 months), I truly appreciate how much this little big city has to offer families. We love hunting for the newest and greatest playgrounds, exploring local hiking trails, and scouting active construction sites. I’ve taught English at the middle school, high school, and college levels, but my favorite teaching assignment is sharing my beloved childhood books with my own kids. (Frog and Toad, anyone?) I’m passionate about teaching my kids to love and serve our community, I obsess over ways to simplify and enrich our family life, and I’m constantly looking for new ways to be healthy and save money. I’ve also given up on matching the thousands of tiny socks that live in our house, and I’ve recently acknowledged that the basement bathroom will never be cleaned once a week. Motherhood has taught me the value of being real, and I look forward to sharing some of my reality with you.”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
The beach is my happy place, and my kids and husband are my happy people, so I’d choose to be at the beach with them.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?
Baby blue, because blue is my signature color. If Shelby Eatenton can have two shades of pink, then I can have blue. It relaxes me.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?
One time (only one time) in college, I took the mic and sang “Like a Prayer” by Madonna. Because it is awesome. I was not. I stand by my song choice, though.

Who would you call for bail money?
My friend Ashley. She has a generous spirit and can be trusted with the greatest of secrets.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Scottish temper. Don’t provoke.

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Ambar India in Clifton.

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?
The zoo!!!!!

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
I love, love, love seeing my kids grown into the unique little people they were created to be.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?
Being a mom is really hard for an introvert; I feel bad needing that time alone, and even worse if I don’t get it.

Welcome, Laura!

I originally hail from the Land of Lincoln (Illinois), but I am happy to have called the Buckeye State my home since 2007! I have two kids (Milo, 5 & Dash, 2) that I just adore about 50% of the time. The other half of the time I’m dodging balls being thrown at my head while cleaning snot off of my shirt for the 3rd time and reminiscing about the days I actually slept. Also, I love cats. And I have mediocre crochet talents.
