Reflecting on the Holidays

0

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas and hoping for lots of snow. I don’t think I’m ever prepared for Christmas anymore. It comes up quickly and leaves all too soon. I prepare my Christmas cards after Thanksgiving. I want my friends and families to start getting into the festive spirits of Christmas. As much as I hate the cold weather, at least it slows down my fast-paced life. I get to enjoy looking outside and watching my son play in the snow being a kid.

What do you do to make the holidays special in your home?

My tradition is letting my son make a special ornament each year to hang on the tree. I hope he will continue this tradition I started with him. Once a kid, always a kid I say. What are some key ways you make Christmas memories every year?

The Christmas holidays may seem festive with colorful presents under the Christmas tree. The house decorations of candy canes are up and pine cones and cranberry garland hang throughout the house. You have your yard lights up with red, green, silver, and gold. What makes it special?

Take this holiday season, slow down, and appreciate the people in your life. Let them know through a letter with a Christmas card. Your time to pick, write, and send a card is more valuable than any gift that can be given. I mean, sure, you can send a text or email, but it’s just not the same in this high-technology world.

I think for most parents, we want to make memorable memories. And most of all, we should remember this holiday is a day of great celebration as Christians remember the resurrection. Say a prayer and be grateful that you can give and donate this winter.
