5 Things I Desperately Needed {But Didn’t Know}: Mom Edition

0

Recently, I discovered a few items that I could not believe that I had lived my whole 51 years not knowing about these items and they changed my life in the best way.  Since posting, I have been able to send links to these products to my friends so they too can live their best lives.

I’ve been a mom for over 26 years and there are many things over the years that I have discovered that I desperately needed but didn’t know it.

things

Full disclosure here, I have a 26 and a 22 year old, then a 9 and a 5 year old. Boy, did parenting change in that 13-year gap! Well, not parenting exactly, but the things you may need or use when you are a mom.

So here it is, five things I desperately needed (but didn’t know), the Mom edition:

  1. Nose Frida/snot sucker has been my go-to for my last little babe, and I wish I had known about it sooner. If you have a weak stomach, you may want to opt for the electric version. But it enables you to suck the snot from a baby or toddler’s nose with one suck.  You use suction for the nose and then suck at the other end of the tube with your mouth. I know it sounds gross, but there is a filter so the snot does not go in your mouth.
  2. Wipe warmer, enough said. Cold wipes on warm bums are not a good combo. When at home, I loved the warmer and made for less reaction when changing diapers.
  3. Tons of small little washcloths. These are gold and can be used for EVERYTHING – eating, diapering, cleaning up messes – and they’re softer than paper towels.
  4. Baby wrap and YouTube to learn how to wear it. There are many different types and kinds. Do your research and pick the one best for you. My favorite was the Moby Wrap, but fair warning, I had to watch and rewatch YouTube videos and practice with a stuffed animal before I put my son in it. He was under 4 pounds and I used it at work and at home until he was 12 months – a life-saver!
  5. A go-go bag. My son coined the phrase for this item. In our car, at all times we had a bag with extra things in it – underwear, socks shoes, an extra set of clothes, water bottles, a deck of Uno cards, baggies for treasures, and anything else that you might need on the go! You never know when you are going to need something on the go and then after you use the bag, you stock it back up and throw it back in the car for the next adventure.

I’m still knee-deep in this mom gig. What is something you didn’t know you desperately needed? Please share. Help this momma out!

Hey local mommas! I grew up in Centerville, but I now live in Wilmington with my husband Tony. Together we have 6 kids, Joe, and his wife Allison, Austin, and his wife Hannah, Sydney and her husband Hayden, Andrew and his wife Lauren and our littles, Max and Eli. Did I mention we are a little nuts starting over with this parenting thing when we are 45+? We are officially adding new titles to our names in 2022- Tiki and Jeep (our version of Grandma and Grandpa). My husband and I are both ministers, and we get to work together in a local church. We were both married before and brought our families together in 2010. After a few years of marriage we felt God's leading for us to adopt. We added Max to our family in 2014 and Eli joined us in 2017, our quiver is officially full! Blending our family has been an adventure! Add some ex-spouses and two birth mommas and we have ourselves a crazy crew! Coffee is my love language. The beach is my happy place and I long to have my toes in the sand.
