Meet Our New Contributor, Allison!

Meet AllisonI am a small-town girl, born & raised in Ohio. I have lived in Cincinnati since 2003, and am grateful for all of my adventures in this wonderful city! My husband Mike & I have two daughters, Audrey (4) and Josephine (1). I have been a SAHM since our first daughter was born, which means most of my days are filled with story-reading, adventure-planning and playing dress-up. Of course I won’t leave out tackling mountains of dishes and laundry and being the cleaner of all things messy. I have a degree in Education from Wright State University, and have previously worked as a Director for Sylvan Learning Center. I currently have the pleasure of working for Clinique as a make-up artist helping with events and promotions, which is so much fun! I am involved in MOPS “Mothers of Preschoolers” and MOMS Club “Moms Offering Moms Support”- 2 groups that I love dearly & recommend for any mom to check out. I love event planning, fashion & beauty and have recently added essential oils to my “It List”. One of my sought after hobbies is finding time for “Me Time” (by myself that is)….we all do that right? Otherwise other than spending time with my family, I love cooking, baking, reading & shopping. I look forward to sharing the joys of motherhood with all of you!

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?AllisonFarley-family

I would start off by sleeping in- yippee! Spending a morning at the spa would be first on my agenda, getting pampered from head to toe. I would then grab lunch, and finish the day shopping at my favorite stores before running home to give hugs & kisses to my girls (and my husband if he is lucky)!

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

I would be purple, as it has always been my favorite. Purple combines the strong stability of blue and the fierce energy of red which is often shown in my personality. Color is always fun to mix up, and a box of crayons is full of many interesting hues.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

I would sing “I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tiffany….brings back memories of my 3rd grade talent show. I may even remember the choreography!

Who would you call for bail money?

My husband.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

“Extroverted Mom: Powered best by adequate sleep, belly laughs & lots of caffeine.”

AllisonFarley-girls2If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The Grand Finale in Glendale. The crepes are out of this world!

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

Smale Park is my new favorite. It is a refreshing place that gives everyone a chance to be a kid again. The carousel is absolutely magical!

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Watching my girls grow up and develop their own little (or big) personalities. I love their excitement for the simple things in life and the unconditional love that they show each and every day.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

Besides guilt, I would have to say having to deal with the unpredictability of children. Specifically related to sleep patterns and tantrums (AKA “moments”). Exhausting!

Welcome Allison!

I originally hail from the Land of Lincoln (Illinois), but I am happy to have called the Buckeye State my home since 2007! I have two kids (Milo, 5 & Dash, 2) that I just adore about 50% of the time. The other half of the time I’m dodging balls being thrown at my head while cleaning snot off of my shirt for the 3rd time and reminiscing about the days I actually slept. Also, I love cats. And I have mediocre crochet talents.
