Tct Narnia the musical

Start a new holiday tradition with the whole family! The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati presents NARNIA The Musical at the Taft Theatre this month. Narnia The Musical tells of four English schoolchildren – brothers and sisters – sent away from London during World War II to stay in the manor house of their uncle – who stumble upon (and through) a wardrobe into the magical kingdom of Narnia, held in the power of the White Witch, whose evil spell has frozen the land, so that it is “always winter – and never Christmas.” From the excitement of the opening number “Doors and Windows”, to the poetry of “Narnia (You Can’t Imagine),” to the stirring “To Make the World Right Again,” your spirits will soar with all those in this enchanted land. TCT productions are first-class all the way. This is theatre for kids but not by kids! We got a first glance on opening day of the show’s run to give you all the best tips and inside info, so you can get your tickets and enjoy the show.

Ideal for ages 4+. This production runs 70 minutes without an intermission.

It was so festive when we walked into the Taft. TCT has the a spotlight raffle going on during the performances again with great prizes. Winners will be chosen the Sunday after the final show. You can always count on The BonBonerie Fine Pastries with their amazing cookies themed to match the show. After checking all of this out and getting a lit Christmas tree souvenir, we headed over to pick up our Crown Club treats – the kids got a copy of the book this show is based on! Remember that Crown Club members and season pass-holders get to stay after the show for autographs (we got to meet Mr. Beaver this time).

As always, TCT’s set designs and costuming are incredible! We heard some gasps when the White Witch came out in her sleigh the first time (and she wasn’t the only one that came out on a sleigh!). Lily, daughter of CMC Contributor, Andrea, said her favorite part was when The Lion (Aslan) came out. It really was impressive – you have to see if for yourself. The Faun was my favorite part in the movie, and I LOVED the actor and costuming for Mr. Tumnus in this show! Below are the remaining show times –

  • Friday, December 15 at 7 PM
  • Saturday, December 16 at 11 AM
  • Saturday, December 16 at 2 PM
  • Sunday, December 17 at 2 PM
  • Monday, December 18 at 1 PM (Homeschool Show Time)

Do you homeschool your kids? Andrea does, and she shared some awesome ideas with us after we saw NARNIA! She said Lily has loved seeing TCT shows over the past couple seasons, and they first started incorporating upcoming shows into their lesson plans when they got ready to see Princess & Frog last season. This last week before NARNIA, they watched the first of the movies, did some Narnia-themed math and word search sheets, and did a craft by making a wardrobe out of a cereal box! Andrea was planning on continuing the Narnia theme by getting The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe to start reading with Lily, but guess what?! That’s the book Lily got with Crown Club! Thanks, TCT!
