Before I divulge my top 10 things I did during quarantine, let me preface by saying that I am trying to write this post with an optimistic spin. I realize that quarantine sucked. I have never cried so much in a matter of two months.. after the kids went to bed of course. All of the unknowns scared me. All the traditions, celebrations, and events that have been canceled made me sad if I thought about it too much. That being said, I also 100% supported the quarantine. I won’t go into this much further, but I just wanted to make sure it was clear that I was – and am – trying to make best of a scary situation.
- Made salt dough with my family. We made a large plaque with all of our handprints. We plan to make some more and make smaller ornaments next time.
- Sang happy birthday to my brother-in-law from the end of the driveway.
- Had a virtual girls’ night on Zoom with some of my friends.
- Lots of bonfires with s’mores, late night swinging on the swing set, and dancing around with flashlights.
- After-dinner dance parties. We turn all of the lights off, I plug in a mini strobe light that we got from Amazon awhile back, and we listen to “Baby Shark Party Remix” and DJ Marshmello.
- Sitting on my deck after the kids go to bed, on a nice evening, with an adult beverage, enjoying the calm.
- Watched “Hart of Dixie” again, starting from episode 1.
- Worked on a puzzle with my husband.
- Video chatted with my husband on his lunch break. These days, my husband is working a lot of hours, so when he has to miss a dinner, it is nice that he can drop in on our Echo during his break and virtually join us for dinner.
- Organized my house. It is one of my favorite hobbies, but I don’t usually have time to do it.
